BOARD MEMBER

MICHAEL ARAM

DESIGNER

Michael Aram is an internationally acclaimed artist, who captivated his collectors for almost thirty years with his sculptural tableware, decorative objects, and fine jewelry collections. Highly inspired by surroundings, Michael combines the imperfections inherent in the handmade process with the beauty of nature, making each piece a work of art. His tableware, sculpture, jewelry, lighting, and furniture is sold in over 70 countries as well as in his flagship stores in New York and Los Angeles.

Michael is a COAF constant board member and one of the most dedicated supports for many years. We are very proud that Michael Aram is with us and his amazing works will be part of our special surprise to all the COAF GALA 2016 attendees.

Tigran Tsitoghdzyan is a New York City-based visual artist. He was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1976. In 1986, by the age of ten, over one hundred of Tigran’s childhood paintings were chosen by Henrik Iguityan to be displayed in a solo exhibition in Armenia, which thereafter traveled to the US, Russia, Japan and Spain.

Ten years later, he moved to Europe, and then later in 2009, to the US. Since then and from New York, his new series, technique, and images are experiencing a phenomenal uprise that comprises both art quality and a bold, intriguing, personal expression with a growing resonance on the international scene.

This year, Tigran has donated to COAF GALA Auction a stunning piece from his collection, and this will not only make an impact on lives of many children in Armenia but also will make our evening memorable and very special.

EMMY-WINNING TV JOURNALIST

Armen Keteyian is an American television journalist and author. He is currently the lead correspondent for 60 Minutes Sports on Showtime, a CBS News correspondent based in New York, and a contributing correspondent to 60 Minutes. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Keteyian is a 1971 graduate of Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI, and graduated Cum Laude from San Diego State University with a BA degree in journalism in 1976. An 11-time Emmy award winner, Keteyian was named a full-time correspondent for Showtime’s 60 Minutes Sports, a monthly sports magazine show beginning in January 2013. Prior to that, he was CBS News’ chief investigative correspondent for seven years and spent nine years as a sportscaster for HBO and CBS Sports.

Donna Kalajian Lagani has been the Publishing Director at Cosmopolitan for 22 years. She is also Chief Revenue Officer for Cosmo and Cosmo for Latinas. When recruited by former Hearst Magazines president Claeys Bahrenburg, Lagani was already the highly regarded publisher of Ladies’ Home Journal, where in 1989 her business smarts brought her promotion from ad director to become only the second woman to lead a women’s service magazine. Donna’s predecessor at Cosmo Tony Hoyt called her “a hard-working publisher who has produced terrific results.” Since her start at Cosmo, the magazine has evolved from a 2.25 million rate-base magazine into a multimedia powerhouse.

NARE GALSTYAN: A GIRL IN LOVE WITH SOCCER

Nare Galstyan, 16, from the village of Lernagog, loves the beautiful game. An active soccer player and fan, Nare dreams of one day having a career that feeds her passion. “I want to become a soccer commentator and a referee,” said Nare, who benefits from COAF programs like the HSBC English Access program. The enrichment that COAF projects have brought to her community has changed her outlook of her home village. “I love Lernagog even more now. Wherever I happen to be, I will never forget it. I will always come back and change the village life for the better.”

This year she joined the FLEX student exchange program, and now lives in the small New England town of Baxter, Minnesota where she attends local school and continues playing her favorite game for the school team. She actively participates in other clubs and other out of school activities, while she pursues her dreams as a FLEX exchange student.

When we asked Nare about her future profession she said: “I’ve always thought about many different professions and jobs before, but every time I come to the point that I understand that everyone should do the work they really like to do to be able to change something in this world. To be honest I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future but every day I try to do my best to get closer to my dreams.” ”
